    Job Description

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
     
    Prepare individuals for the 21st Century Workforce with intensive Case Management, Work Readiness and a variety of earn-as-you-learn or training experiences as you help your customers transition to a new career, into post-secondary education, or to the world of work for the first time. This position plays the key role in helping our customers join the workforce successfully.

    1. Plans, directs, and participates in outreach, recruitment and enrollment activities of potential
    customers.
    2. Develops partnerships with agencies and organizations for communities’ resources and referrals,
    including required program elements not provided in-house.
    3. Interviews and provides intake services to determine customer’s eligibility by obtaining documented
    information about employment history, family income, and barriers to employment and training.
    4. Assesses customer’s occupational, educational, and economic information to assist customer in
    determining and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
    5. Develops individualized plans that fit customer’s aptitudes, education levels, abilities, and career goals
    in conjunction with the customer.
    6. Trains customers on Work Readiness, through in-person career planning presentations and workshops
    or other training modes, like job search, application strategies, resume writing, and interview skills in
    addition to Soft Skills such as interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and active listening.
    7. Mitigates barriers to success through in-house offerings and referrals to community partners, including
    where to go and how to apply coupled with comprehensive guidance and counseling through intensive
    client-centered case management.
    8. Develops and reviews service plans in consultation with clients, assessing the quantity and quality of
    services provided, re-developing service plans as goals are met and barriers remedied.
    9. Establishes partnerships with employers to create internships, paid and unpaid work experiences, onthe-job training, job shadowing, and direct unsubsidized employment opportunities for individual
    customers in their chosen career fields.
    10. Assists youth customers with educational services, both in-house and referred, leading to placement
    opportunities into post-secondary education.
    11. Provides follow-up services with customers during the prescribed retention period regularly,
    evaluating outcomes.
    12. Prepares and maintains records and case files, including documentation such as clients' personal and
    eligibility information, services provided, narratives of client contacts, and relevant correspondence
    13. Completes and submits reports, assuring that all record keeping procedures are being followed.
    14. Attends and participates in community meetings as a Telamon representative.
    15. Performs all other duties as assigned by the State Director.

    This position has no direct supervisory duties but is expected to train or explain work procedures to others.
     

    Qualifications:
     
    • A Bachelor's Degree is required.

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.

    • Bilingual Ability in language of targeted population is preferred.

    • Minimum of two years of related work experience.

    • Effective Case Management, Counseling or Coaching Skills

    • Excellent Communication Skills (both oral and writing)

    • Ability to think analytically, plan and organize self and customers

    • Self-directed and able to work independently

    • Ability to problem solve quickly

    • Ability to search out resources, develop relationships, and maintain partnerships
     

    Physical Requirements:
     
    • Work is performed both in an office environment and out in the community.

    • Driving/sitting for prolong periods of time.

    • Standing and walking for prolong periods of time.

    • Occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions.

    • Occasional exposure to dust and dirt.

    • Sitting, walking, stooping, squatting, lifting (up to 30 lbs), carrying, pushing and climbing.

    • Keyboarding and data entry, use of telephone.

    • Conduct outreach and home visits to customer residences, exposure to potentially unsafe environments, climb stairs.
