    Donate Life Month Flag Raising
    MEDIA ADVISORY

Throughout the month of April, in celebration of National Donate Life Month, Peninsula Regional Medical Center, along with The Living Legacy Foundation, Maryland’s organ procurement organization, and Donate Life Maryland, will fly the Donate Life Flag in honor of past, present and future organ, eye, and tissue donors and donors in spirit.

On the Lower Shore, 68% of those eligible in Worcester County have designated themselves as donors.  It’s 59% in Wicomico and just 38% in Somerset County.

The “Flags Across Maryland” campaign, in conjunction with the national “Flags Across America” campaign, brings a greater awareness to the over 113,000 people waiting nationally for a life-saving organ transplant. Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant wait list.

In Maryland alone, about 3,500 people are anxiously waiting for a second chance at life.
