Frequently Asked Questions

What singular membership benefit attracts the most businesses to join?

Our annual Business and Community Directory is the only publication of it's type in this community. The 10,000 copies are distributed throughout the community, all new residents receive a copy in their welcome packet, and Directories are mailed to national addresses. Each Chamber Member is listed twice in this publication, once under a designated business category, and then again alphabetically in the Member index. Members receive free categorical and alphabetical listings. Members may purchase ad space in this valuable marketing tool at a rate discounted from non-member rates.

What type of memberships do you offer and what is the charge?

We offer three types of memberships. If a business has more than five employees, the fee is $195 per year. For smaller businesses with less than five employees or for those who are self-employed or work as independent agents (such as realtors, doctor's, insurance agents), the charge is $145 per year. If a company has a main branch and would like to list the addresses of their other locations, the charge is $60 per location. We also offer a $30 membership to non-profit, volunteer, 501c3 organizations.

Are members required to volunteer their time to the Chamber?

No. If you choose to voluntarily donate to the Chamber, you may, but you are under no pressure to do so. Most of our members are very active in the Chamber because they find their volunteer activities to be enjoyable and a great way to network their businesses. Because of this, the Chamber has no problems recruiting volunteers when needed.

I need to publicize my business more. How can a Membership in the Chamber help me?

Plenty of valuable networking opportunities come with your Membership. Bring your business cards and literature to our monthly Business after Hours and Power Hour Breakfasts. Both events are well attended so you will be able to talk about your business to those attending either individually or as a group. Member's may present a "three minute Business Introduction" or "Less than one minute" to speak about special events. You are also entitled to display your publications in our Chamber office and we encourage our members to let us know about upcoming events and specials so we can tell others.

How do you keep your Members informed?

Each week, e-mail messages "What's Up With Your Chamber" are sent to our members keeping them up to date on important topics and events. Our monthly newsletter, Chamber Chatter, has informative pages of business related news and advertisment opportunities. General announcements are heard at all events.

How does the Chamber communicate with our elected officials?

Our Executive Director attends Worcester County Commissioner meetings as well as monthly Economic Development Committee breakfast meetings. Our Senators and Delegates speak about issues they will address in the January Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session and then open up the floor for discussion. This allows our members a chance to voice their opinions directly to our representatives.

Periodically, throughout the year, our Delegates and County Commissioners attend and/or speak at our Power Hour Breakfasts and Business after Hours providing our members another opportunity to speak directly with them.
